OUR HISTORY

There are several ways that a Martial Arts style or school can come into being. Some simply grow with a nation or culture. Some, especially sport forms, bring existing arts together to form a common hybrid system. Most represent the collected learnings of a given individual.

And so it is with the Kajuen Ryu. This is the culmination of over thirty years of martial arts study by our founder, Peter Jones. In this time he has invested many hours into training and studying in a multitude of arts under some incredible instructors.

The precursor to the Kajuen Ryu opened in January 2004 at Sport Martley in Worcestershire. Opening this club was Pete’s lifelong dream. The decade that followed was prosperous and sometimes challenging. In that time we amassed over sixty students across three clubs and over a dozen black belt members. Toward the end of 2013 it was clear that we weren’t in harmony with the direction of our parent organisation. After much consideration and with a heavy heart we chose to depart and become independent. We are now enjoying membership of the British Combat Association and World Combat Association but informally maintain links with friends from our past.

We offer several disciplines and are continually evolving, seeking to be the best that we can be. We endeavour to continue to build on our successes and strive for the highest standards in a club with a strong positive and safe learning environment.
