THE PANDEMIC

To suggest that 2020 was a tough year would be an understatement

And the pandemic still isn't over.

Like all clubs across the UK we had the choice of giving in and closing, or tightening the boot straps and pushing forwards. Guess which we did?

Classes moved to Zoom. Videos were provided for students. We maintained communication. We managed some outdoor training. We even managed a small number of belt promotions. We bought a grappling dummy to enable students attending on their own to train. We created striking tools for socially-distanced drills. Crucially we looked out for each other. We did lose students but those that we lost clearly didn't have the martial spirit to push on through difficult times.

Students who trained regularly from the 1st of December 2019 to the 1st of December 2020 including training in some capacity throughout the two national "lockdowns" received the unique 2020 award that recognises this.
